Books...over 60,000 titles geared towards the needs and interests of Holyoke residents and surrounding areas.

 

Interlibrary Loan Service...if we don’t have the materials you want, we will try to obtain them for you from other libraries across the state.

 

Videocassettes...we have a wide selection of VHS cassettes available for one week loan.

 

New books and materials list...monthly.

 

Children’s programming...Pre-school story-time on Wednesdays at 9:30 am; Summer Reading Program.

 

Early Childhood Literacy ProgramReading is Essential at the Family Learning Place is a program created with LSTA funds from the MBLC to encourage parents to take an active role in the education, health and welfare of their children starting from birth.

 

Photocopy machine...10c per copy

 

Tax Forms...reproducible Federal and State tax forms and instructions.

 

Depository Collection...on request for schools and nursing homes.

 

Special materials...large print books, Spanish books; Books-on-tapes; CD-ROM; periodical index; microfilm reader/printer; CDs; language tapes.

 

Free Library Cards...all you need to register is show some identification with your name and current address on it--driver’s license, bill, rent receipt--you do not have to be a resident of Holyoke to become a member of Holyoke Public Library.

 

Community Meeting Room...air-conditioned, kitchen facilities--available to civic, educational, and cultural groups at no charge.

 

Handicap accessible...elevator to first and second floor available

 

Special collections...Holyoke History Room houses an extensive collection of materials on early history of Holyoke; Microfilms of Holyoke Transcript-Telegram from 1884 to 1993, Springfield Union-News from 1993 to date. New York Times from 1950 to date.

 

Friends of the Holyoke Public Library Organization...group of civic-minded people who support, improve, promote and expand the library because they believe that quality library service is important to the community

 

Periodicals...daily newspapers; weekly, biweekly, and monthly magazines.

 

Library Instruction...teaching the use of library’s sources and tour of the library...please call to schedule date and time.

Staff members...wonderful group of employees and volunteers always available to help library’s patrons.

 

FAX machine...for a small fee, you can send and receive faxes.

 

Computers...Public Access Catalog (WebPAC), for Internet access and more. Prints are 10 cents/page for school work and 25 cents/page for other prints.
