The John Olsen Collection The John Olsen Collection comprises 49 framed pen and ink drawings of historic Holyoke buildings. They were created to commemorate the city's Centennial Celebration in 1973. Olsen reconstructed these intricate works of art from old photographs and his own architectural knowledge. The Holyoke Public Library purchased the collection in 1974, and displayed exhibits in 1983 and 1997. It is now a permanent online exhibit. Please click a link below to view the detailed artwork. The Holyoke Range Collection consists of materials on the three mountains that make up the Holyoke Range. Summit houses on all three mountains were places of commerce and recreation from the mid-1800s into the 1930s. Also in the collection are original photographs, many newspaper articles, memorabilia, historical timelines and environmental studies.

Legacy of William Stiles Loomis (1840-1914) As a founding father of the city of Holyoke, William S. Loomis’ altruism, calculated ambition, and progressive entrepreneurial attitude helped build the city’s library, successfully expand the Holyoke Street Railway, and develop Mt. Tom and Mountain Park into historic landmarks.
