The Friends need to raise funds for two distinct purposes:

1. Support of current needs of the HPL, as requested by Library Director María Pagán
2. Payment of our Pledge towards the 21st Century Library Building Project

In the fall of 2009, the Executive Committee of the Friends wrote a letter to the Capital Campaign pledging to donate $40,000 within the first year and to raise an additional $60,000 over the next 5 years, for a total pledge of $100,000.  Thus, we need to raise and contribute $12,000 each year for this Campaign.

In years prior to the Building Campaign,  we had been able to contribute about $5,000-8,000  for purpose #1.  We hope in the coming years to contribute also $8,000.  Thus, our overall goal is to raise  $20,000/year.

Brainstorming during a lively meeting on June 8, 2011, resulted in a long list of new ideas for possible fundraisers, in addition to our successful annual fundraisers:

• Cocktail Party in the fall
• Future Begins Here  - 1st Sunday in May
