Friends board meetings are held MONTHLY on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 5:30 pm. These meetings are open to all. (Schedule and location of summer meetings may vary.)

Annual Cocktail Party or GALA - For 2011, the Cocktail Party was Saturday, November 19, 6-11pm at the Library, catered by the Holyoke Country Club. See Facebook page for this event.

In 2010 it was a HOLIDAY GALA and SILENT AUCTION --planned in conjunction with Homework House and benefitting both organizations-- on Saturday, December 11, 2010, at the Library. For photos of that Gala, see our Blog entry "What a Party!!" and also the MassLive gallery "Seen@Holyoke Library's Gala and Silent Auction". For 2012 we aim to have the party in September.

Author talks & book signings - We sponsor occasional book talks, bringing in local authors.

Book Club, informal discussion group - Come talk about your reactions to this month's book, and help select the book for next month. Come join us! All welcome. [Suspended for summer 2011; contact marypaz or Tim if you'd like to be involved in fall 2011.]

Future Begins Here - First Sunday in May at the Holyoke Mall. For 2012, it will be May 6. The Friends of the Holyoke Public Library participates in this annual community fundraiser for children's services in the Pioneer Valley. It includes gourmet food, auctions, and live music at the Holyoke Mall. See Future Begins Here website for list of restaurants and other details.

Outreach at community events -- e.g., Great Holyoke Block Party, Labor Day weekend; Education Fair; Discover Holyoke Day; Noche de San Juan at Heritage Park). New for 2012: two Holyoke Winter Carnival events Feb 2 (Hot Cocoa Social at Merry-Go-Round, 5-7pm) and Feb 4 (Library Open House 12-3:30pm and story reading by Mr. Tim).
